Can you believe Snow on Wednesday morning and then 70 degrees by the weekend! What a way to kick off the riding season. Saturday was a fast ride, and anyone who complains about the pace should seriously reexamine their role in keeping the pace fairly high.

Well, its official, 2008 is over. We finished the year with another successful Bee Team ride. The day was beautiful, about 60° and sunny. To say it was a bit windy would be a serious understatement. The wind really blew. On one section of road even a paceline was only capable of 14 miles per hour.
A route has been selected and cue sheets have been printed up and now final preparations are being made for a final ride of the year. Although there are many rides going on throughout the area, I will be participating in the 2nd Bee Team ride out of Waxhaw.
Yesterday we decided to go out and ride the Bee Team Waxhaw Sunday Social Ride. I figured I needed to be there since most of you were doing or recovering from the MS ride in Greenville, SC. There was a good turn out, actually more than I thought would go out. I lead the only group that rode.
Jeff Viscount is having a 4th of July ride.
We will ride from the back lot of the Morrison YMCA at 8am on Friday the 4th.
Route: 50 miles…Out to Mineral Springs and back. Because the Waxhaw parade starts at 10am, we will come back via Sims & down Rehobeth to avoid downtown streets. With the addition of the Crow Rd. / Doster Rd. loop and a run up Crane on the return the mileage ends up right at 51.
Did I mention the fact that it was windy this afternoon. Went out for the Waxhaw ride this afternoon and when James and I got there, there were only two other Bee Teamers and a whole lot of new riders. So I had to take it upon myself to lead the ride. Not that I really wanted to, it is hard riding in the back making sure everyone is ok. It is hard moving from the back to the front of the group then back to the back again to access everyone’s ability and/or condition. It was a hard ride. I should also mention that it was windy!
Nicole and I had a two very good rides. The first was the Saturday Mid-Morning ride out of Bicycles East in Matthews. That ride can be fast or slow depending on the composition of the group. For the most part it was a fair mix of riders and the weather was good. Thirty-Three miles through Matthews, Mint hill and parts of rural Union County.
Starting May 3rd the start time of the Saturday morning Bee Team ride changes to 8:00 AM. The start location remains the same, Waxhaw Elementary School. Please check the Bee Team web site for specific details. The calendar has been appropriately updated.
