Description: Beautiful course wrapping around the city of Hickory for first 10 miles. Very safe for families with excellent police support. Riders doing the 33 and 65 mile routes will continue south of Hickory through Mountain View. Lots of rolling hills.

The Bicycle Inn in Bakersville NC presents Roan Moan 2008

The Bicycle Inn12th annual Roan Moan offers a strenuous quarter metric, metric, century and barbecue. At the hottest time of the year, come up to one of the prettiest and coolest places ever. The metric and century rides tour the old Tweetsie Railroad Grade and Doe River before the 7 mile “moan” up Roan Mountain. Families and friends can tour the galleries, Penland Craft School, or welcome the riders crossing Roan Mountain at Carvers Gap. All funds go to Bakersville’s fire and rescue services.

Gray’s Chapel Lions Club presents the annual fabulous fun bicycle ride for charity. The 9th Annual Tour de Lions will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

New for 2008, 10, 20, 40 and…. 75 mile routes! Great roads, beautiful scenery, good people, scrumptious food & cold drink, tons of door prizes, benefiting great causes! Over 370 riders in 2007!

Gaston County CyclistsThe Gaston County Cyclist are having their Crowders Mountain Spring Ride on Sunday, April 13, 2008. It is a metric century ride, with 37 and 22 mile options though southern Gaston County, NC and northern York County, SC.

Registration is on event day only in accordance with the GCC inclement weather policy. The start and finish is in the Crowders Mountain State park in Gaston County, NC.

Tour de Cashiers Sunday, April 13, 2008.

Times:

7:30AM – Registration at the Village Green
8:15AM – Riders Meeting
8:30AM – 100, 62, and 25 mile start
9:00AM – 11 mile start

The Assault on Marion covers the first 72 miles of the Assault on Mount Mitchell challenge. The first 72 miles has about 4,500 feet of climbing. This portion of the tour moves through gentle rolling country side of South Carolina. While you are riding in South Carolina – there are several locations that you can see your goal of Mount Mitchell, if you are registered for Assault on Mount Mitchell.

RRRCThe Rocky River Road Club has set a date for their 10th Annual Polar Bear Metric Century. Wind through scenic areas of Davidson and Mooresville and enjoy a crisp winter ride. The ride takes place on January 12, 2008 (rain date if January 19, 2008). Registration is $20 on the day of the event, or you can pre-register for $15 on-line at ActiveZach.
