Map Saturday – Mid morning ride – Matthews (34 miles) Here is a route for suburbanites that need to start and finish in Matthews. There is some traffic getting in and out of town, but once past I485 you have some less traveled roads in the Mint Hill area. There is a climb or two but nothing too steep, a good workout.

Map The Zoo Ride (34 miles) Another ride that includes Crow Rd, but this time going the opposite direction. Many will recognize the lower part of the Veteran’s Day Charity Ride. Very rural and mostly flat, only about 1800′ of ascent in 34 miles. You will pass by some chicken farms near the middle of the route, that might be a concern on warm days for those with sensitive noses.

Map Waxhaw / Walkup (29 miles) Not too many hills but it does include Walkup Rd (OUCH!). Starts and ends at the Waxhaw Elementary School. Uses Sims Rd to bypass downtown Waxhaw.

Map Plantation Market (55 miles) Here is the route taken through Matthews, Mineral Springs, Waxhaw, Weddington that is ridden by a group that leaves from Plantation Market on Sunday mornings. It does have a long stretch on Hwy 521, please proceed with caution.

Map Mint Hill Century Route (103 miles) This route winds through scenic areas of Union County before going into rural South Carolina. The road into Peachland is lightly traveled on Sunday mornings and from Peachland to Pageland is a lonely road. Be careful to bring enough food and water with you as there are basically no stops for the first 50 miles. Once past Pageland you head back north through Marshville then Unionville back to Mint Hill.

Map Coach’s Easy Sunday Route (20 miles) A ride with few steep grades, though plenty of the usual undulating terrain of Union County. This ride is generally done in a counter-clockwise direction so that Crow Road, a favorite in these parts, can be enjoyed in the more downhill direction.

Map The Van Wyck Ride (33 miles) This is another favorite Sunday afternoon ride for Bee Teamers, with enough hills in it to bring your conditioning along (about 1,700 feet of climbing). The Van Wyck Road is a favorite among cyclist in the area, once the initial hill is surpassed.
