Tour de Tots

Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast is pleased to present the annual Tour de Tots bike ride for the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital. The charitable ride through scenic Cabarrus County will be held Sept. 6, 2008, promoting community health and wellness while raising awareness for the children’s hospital.

Over 300 cyclists are expected for the Tour de Tots, which will include a bike rodeo, plus 31-and 62-mile tour courses. And with a post-event celebration featuring food and entertainment,Tour de Tots has become a highly anticipated annual event!

DATE:
Saturday, November 1, 2008

TIME:
8 am: Registration for Rides

9:30 am: 62-mile “Metric Century” start

10 am: 31-mile “Half Metric Century” start

11 am-1 pm: Festivities & Fun

11am: “Wheels on Parade” and Food

ROUTES:
Cyclists have the option of a 31- or 62-mile route through scenic Cabarrus County. Features also include “wheels on parade.”

LOCATION:
The Tour de Tots begins and ends at the Cabarrus College of Health Sciences on the campus of CMC-NorthEast, located at I-85, Exit 58 in Concord.

Deda Elementi Stems Being Recalled

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN)—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Deda Elementi, has announced a voluntary recall of about 400 Deda Forza bicycle handlebar stems.

Spuik, a Spanish company started by an accountant, marketing man, and a sports person in 1996/97, is a supplier of cycling apparel and accessories. Their methodology is based on the analysis of the real needs of cyclists. When those needs are identified, the next step consists in finding the appropriate design to meet such needs. This stage includes the drawing up of a prototype which is tested by professional sports people. After this testing is complete necessary corrections and adjusting are made before mass production gets underway and products are marketed in specialty bicycle shops.
