Charlotte’s new light rail system, LYNX, will allow bicycles on anytime. In many cases the light rail line will replace existing bus routes. CATS buses allow riders to ‘bring their bikes’ with them as they are equipped with front mounted bicycle racks. LYNX will now offer an equivalent service.

There are a few restrictions, No motorized vehicles of any kind and no tandem bicycles.

It took a while to figure out, but I now have the ability to display route maps without resorting to creating them on MapMyRide, BikeRouteToaster, or any of the other online routing software. The last hurdle was where to upload the files. Now that this is solved we can now display maps of routes we have taken. This feature will help better document what rides we take where we want to share the route with everyone here.

T-Mobile is rethinking their sponsorship in cycling as a result of Patrick Sinkewitz’ revelations. Deutsche Telekom is contracted as the primary sponsor until the 2010 racing season. They are meeting this week to discuss further involvement in the sport of cycling. Not entirely unexpected, but still sad for professional cycling.

Now that the time changed from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time this past Sunday morning, more caution is needed when driving, walking or cycling in the early evening. According to this Associated Press article, if you are out at 6:00 pm you are three times more likely to be stuck and killed by a motor vehicle and before the time change.
