My Sunday Ride

Man was it windy, going out the tail wind was wonderful, coming back, there were sections where I wondered if I ws going to be able to keep the bike upright. It was a good thing I didn’t have 50mm deep rims. Seemed like the entire way back was uphill. Best thing about it, it was a day in the saddle.

Chanel has a $12,000 jewel encrusted bicycle. That’s right I said $12,000, yep it is jewel encrusted. The only thing I can say is, WHY?

Georgia Gould, the 2007 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Cross Country Calendar Champion, has posted on her blog that she has a petition asking the UCI to mandate equal prize money for the top 5 places in both men’s and women’s races. If you agree the petition can be signed electronically.

Trek sponsors Astana

In the "you knew it was coming" news category. Trek is now the official bicycle sponsor of the Astana professional cycling team. With so many former Discovery team members now at Astana, how could Trek not make this decision. Here is the official press release:

Ok, finally the wheels are built. I managed to get them done Saturday evening for their maiden ride on Sunday. There are a lot of steps that go into building a strong wheel. They can be found all over the Internet so I won’t bore you with the details of the build process.

Nice ride between Matthews and Mint Hill. A little bit of town riding in traffic leaving and entering Matthews. Mostly rural roads with little traffic except for a very short stretch on Lawyers Rd. See maps below for start location and route.
