Rides

Here is where you will see posts of rides of a local interest. They will start from various places throughout lower Mecklenburg and all over Union counties. These generally are well attended and afford you an opportunity to meet new and interesting people. Nearly all rides are self supported (no sag) and are not sponsored by any club, organization or business. Helmets are required.

With all the posts about the Veteran’s Day Ride on the site, I figured it would sure be nice to have a post from somebody who actually FINISHED the ride. Nicole and I opted for the 35 mile route, I thought I’d share some of my impressions from the ride.

I told you it was fast!

So, yesterday I said that the ride was fast. Well at least the 15 miles I did was fast for me. After getting dropped and trying desperately to hang on, here are the stats I have for the ride to the first rest stop:

We miss tandem riding

Yesterday we decided to go out and ride the Bee Team Waxhaw Sunday Social Ride. I figured I needed to be there since most of you were doing or recovering from the MS ride in Greenville, SC. There was a good turn out, actually more than I thought would go out. I lead the only group that rode.

50 on 50 Update

The first thing I would like to say is that I was a little disappointed that no one that promised to ride with me showed up this morning to help me with this milestone ride. But that was really ok since I managed to get two riders from Ann Marie’s Y ride to join me since they needed/wanted more miles. So At 9:30AM I headed out of Beatty Park to meet up with Angela and Sonya to ride some of rural Union County roads.

50 on 50 Milestone

Thursday September 11, 2008, I arrive at a milestone. Hopefully I will be alive for half a century. In honor of that milestone I would like to invite anyone willing to join me on a fifty plus mile journey through rural Union County. I do not celebrate birthdays so this is not a birthday ride, that is why I am calling it a “Milestone Ride.” Here is the proposed route, starting at Colonel Francis Beatty Park, in front of Lake Pointe Hall:

We will do the same ride that we did on Memorial Day with rolling hills and light traffic. Plan to do the 53 mile route if you have the time with a 34 mile option if you have to be home by noon. Please park at the public lot across the RR tracks from the bike shop.
