Okay over the past couple of weeks I have been able to sneak away from Mount Mitchell training long enough to start work on a new bike build. After deciding on a frame and proper size there were just a few parts I was missing. Well to tell you the truth there are still a couple of parts missing but the bike can be ridden.

Well it didn’t turn out exactly as I had planned. First indication was when I put my shoes on and hopped on the bike. One cleat which I had to adjust the night before was simply too far to the outside of the shoe causing it to rub on the crank arm. Lucky I had another pair with me.
Nicole and I decided it would be a good day to leave the tandem home and ride single bikes. Let me say first, that Nicole is ok and went to school this morning without any fuss, more details later.
It was an amazing turnout for the Bee Team rides. There must have been 40-45 riders there. The normal group was split in two and left about 5 minutes apart. The beginner group left after that.
What a beautiful day for a ride. There were a few people I knew there at the ride start. A few Bee teamers, and I also ran into a few others I knew and/or have ridden with in the past. The route took you out of Harrisburg, NC from Hickory Ridge High School and headed basically in a southeasterly direction into Union County, then it makes a turn almost directly north back into Cabarrus County before turning west to the finish.
Well here it is 2007 is finally over. Had to get one more ride in this year. Weather was perfect, company was good. Too many hills in the middle. After 35 miles we hit a bunch of rollers on Landford Road. Started to drop back but Micah and Jeff helped drag me back to the group. The last climbs were tortuous. Here are the specifics:
