A Simple Request

As much as we enjoy seeing our work all over the internet and we currently have a very liberal view towards downloading our pictures for reuse, if you republish them on the web please give us credit for the image!

CyclingNews covered this event with a lot of pictures.

There were a lot of Snow Bikes (when it snows here everyone stays inside) and some tandems. Paketa showed their version 2 tandem that they claim can be built to about 24 pounds with the right component mix. Wow 24 pound tandem, that is 2 pounds lighter than our Ruegammer!

Quite a few single speed and commuter bikes. Renovo featured a ride worthy wooden frame bike.

RadioShack and Lance to Form New Cycling Team in 2010 — powered by http://www.livestrong.com

This weekend was busy for professional cycling. The Dauphiné Libéré was won by Alejandro Valverde. I sure hope that the Italian cycling authorities (CONI) allow him to participate in the Tour de France this year. Italian, you say, well yes. Seems that for his alleged involvement in Operation Puerto the Italians have banned him from any races on Italian soil for two years. The TDF takes a brief 80km (about 50 miles) run into Italy on stage 16. In all these type of cases it is usually a matter of he said/she said and this is no different. It is just a shame that one of the best cyclists in the world today will not be able to participate.

UPDATE: Click the Galleries page link above to visit our new picture galleries, feel free to download any of the images. Please note that they are rather large at 6mp each.

We will be adding added a new feature to The Incidental Cyclist website. It is a high resolution photo gallery. We will start with The first gallery is the recently completed MS Challenge Walk and we will move on to other events in the area. It will make it easier for us to fulfill people’s requests for high resolution images of events they participate in. We will still have reduced size images linked directly to posts but you will soon be able to go to a specific Album Gallery page and view all the images and download the any high resolution image yourself.

Not only will are we be hosting our own images, but we will also have the ability to upload video. So look for a few ride videos toward the latter half of 2009 as we get back to riding our bikes.

This is our way of giving back to the cycling community that has become so dear to us here in southern Mecklenberg and Union counties.

The Manual of Bicycle Repair is a comprehensive collection of books that guide you step by step through major and minor bicycle repairs. If you are mechanically inclined and want to learn how to replace a bottom bracket, for instance, this book can show you how.

Funny/sad story out of California, Cisco CTO enraged that his new Cervélo was a day late wrote that he wanted the LBS salesman to die. Is there any bike you would kill for?

The End of an Era

Dorel, the parent company of Cannondale will finally cease production of US made frames starting with the 2011 model year. The Made in USA marketing will cease to be a factor in the future. I am not sure what this will mean for Cannondale but it doesn’t have to mean that the quality that is usually associated with Cannondale has to go away. There are quite a few Asian made frames that can stand up as some of the best in the world.
