Some of us cyclists like to do our own bicycle tune-ups and parts replacement. One part that often gets overlooked is cable housing. We might even be very conscientious about replacing the cables themselves each season whenever we feel like there is sluggishness shifting or a little extra effort in order to brake. This is a good thing. But how often do we replace the housing?
Things that just don’t fit in the other categories
This past Monday was the scheduled echocardiogram and cardiac stress test. I arrive at the doctors office a few minutes early. I fill out the few necessary forms and wait patiently for the test to begin. I get some of the pictures taken and the customary electrocardiogram and get some disturbing news. I am told the doctor wants to have the echo done before the stress test then he wants to speak to me after the echo..
Over the past couple of months I have been a little uncomfortable while riding. I had promised to cut down my mileage this year by 25% but to increase the intensity. So I decided to really try some things and rides in January and February that I had not tried in the past.
There are many people in this world that fuss over every minute detail on their bicycles. They care about this angle or that angle. They care about whether or not the wheel is 1 mm out of true or 1 mm out of round. Are the tires filled precisely to 110 psi front 115 psi rear.
It’s raining and you really wanted to go out on a ride. At the same time you really dread having to get all bundled up put rain gear on and going out in the cold windy rain eventually getting soaked anyway. So how do you spend your time?
Nicole is healing well. She will also be sporting a new helmet and glasses as the old helmet cracked in the fall and here glasses suffered a huge scratch on the left lens. She told me yesterday that she would have finished the ride under her own power if she had not tweaked the front wheel and flatted. She is a lot stronger person than she lets on.
