The Morrow Mountain ride series had a fantastic send of this season with some gorgeous weather and a diverse turnout. About 120 riders from all over the Charlotte area came out for what was to be a great ride. One gentleman even came from Wilmington to ride MM!
If you have an event, as opposed to a regular ride, it will be posted here. Events are usually sanctioned by some organized body (business, club or organization). They will usually have a registration fee and be supported with food/water stations and sometimes SAG support. Please see individual posts for contact information.

Well, thank god that is over!
I knew that the front straight was uphill and that coming into turn one would be difficult, I just didn’t realize how difficult it would be. To get the stats out of the way. We finished the seven laps around Charlotte Motor Speedway in 00:32:15.67 for an average speed of 18.6 miles per hour. We came in dead last in the tandem category.
The Cancer Council Helpline Classic starts of the week of cycling festivities in Australia that is the Tour Down Under. Lance and team RadioShack came out in force with Armstrong in the lead breakaway for nearly half the race.

This weekend our family decided to do something other than cycling. We took a trip to the Monroe Executive Airport to see the Warriors and Warbirds 2009 Airshow. It is simply amazing to see 60 year old aircraft that have been restored and look like they just came out of the factory. It is also amazing to see that the sheer performance these aircraft possess.
It was one year ago on the Veteran’s Day ride that I had to go to the hospital with a huge hematoma. So with that experience you would think that I really wouldn’t be eager to return again this year. Well, Nicole and I did go out and took a few pictures of the event that we wanted to share with the cycling community. Many of the images are from before and during the start of the event. We also took a few photographs at the first rest stop.

Quote from Official Press release:
LOS ANGELES (October 22, 2009) – The host cities for the record-setting Amgen Tour of California professional cycling road race were announced this morning via a Twitter exchange that took place shortly before 9 a.m. PT between Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and some of America’s most accomplished cyclists, including Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, Dave Zabriskie and George Hincapie. This marked the first time an event of this stature has ever been announced via Twitter.
