A new toy

So even though I can’t be on the bike doesn’t mean I can’t purchase anything new to use the moment I can return to cycling. The newest gadget that we received is one of the hottest items in the adventure cam market, the VholdR ContourHD!

Nearly every way has been tried to make handlebar tape stay looking good from season to season. There is nothing like having freshly wrapped bars, especially as the summer cycling season hits.

One of the first things I look at when I am looking over someone’s bicycle is the handlebar tape. Does it need cleaning? Should it be replaced? Is it ripped? I know others look at these things also. One thing that is almost universally overlooked is how the tape is finished off near the middle of the bars. Just how much vinyl electrical tape can you put on the bars.

New Shoes

January is about half over and we are just getting ready to start our season. Well maybe start after this week’s cold spell is over. Nicole got herself some new shoes.

It’s not like she needed new shoes, but sometimes you find a deal that is just too good to pass up. While looking over an email ad from Sierra Trading Post I found these Sidi’s on sale.

I bought a new fancy carbon fiber tripod based on the reviews scattered throughout the web. I can say that I am very happy I did.

Most of the people I ride with know that I ride exclusively on tubular tires. It is something I am used to and something I am very familiar with. I have weighed the trade offs between using clinchers and tubulars and I am happy with the decisions I have made. This post is not to persuade anyone to choose one type of tire over another. I just want to find a tubular that I can train on that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg.

This video is a tour of the Crossman Factory, as they make 12 gram CO2 cartridges.

I found this interesting video I though might be informative to all you weight weenies, like myself, that do not carry a pump with them on rides. I usually carry an inflator and two CO2 cartridges in case of a flat.
