Like my uncle and cousin, I don’t ride much during the winter, aside from some intervals on the trainer about once a week. I barely even look at bike related news/sites during the winter. But there are some other hobbies I have that fill in the void.

With all the posts about the Veteran’s Day Ride on the site, I figured it would sure be nice to have a post from somebody who actually FINISHED the ride. Nicole and I opted for the 35 mile route, I thought I’d share some of my impressions from the ride.
After spending about 2-3 weeks trying to decide on what kind of wheels to get, whether to buy a wheelset, or build, I finally made a decision… or perhaps, the decision was made for me.
The decision I had come to was to look either a set of carbon clinchers, or build a powertap wheel. I’d been shopping around, looking for a reasonably light set of aero rims. I was looking for something similar to a set of Reynolds DV46C wheels, or a Gigantex based 50 mm rim.
After a several weeks of staring at my shiny new(ish) PedalForce RS2 frame, I finally have it in riding condition. There’s still a few changes I want to make to the bike, but for the near future, I’ll be riding it as is.
A while ago I posted my two current MTB project bikes. I’m happy to say that one of them is (mostly) complete, and wanted to share the final outcome. I also got a good deal on a road frame that I’ll be building up sometime in the next couple months.
About 2 months ago I bought myself a singlespeed mountain bike. I haven’t had a chance to ride it too much, but I’ve really enjoyed the simplicity of the bike. Earlier this week, I finally got around to riding it on a real trail. We went to Sherman Branch for a bit of riding, and I learned a few things about SS, riding a trail for the first time, and 29ers, as my SS is a Cannondale F29.
I’ve had a couple of projects I’ve been working on for the past few months that I thought I’d share with you. The first project, is my PedalForce MTB bike. Regular readers will recognize the frame, as my uncle also has the same frame. We both purchased the frames at the same time, I’ve just been a lot more pickier about what components I’m willing to put on the bike.
About a month ago, I decided that owning and riding just mountain bikes wasn’t enough to feed my obsession. Seeing how both my Uncle (Bud) and his daughter are both roadies, I’m pretty familiar with road biking, and have followed the Tour de France off and on since the Indurain days, it was pretty easy to make the decision to get a new road bike for some fast riding and endurance building.
