Landis admits doping, names names!

Wow, what a shocker, there is doping in cycling. Floyd Landis reportedly sent several emails to USACycling and the UCI outlining systematic doping by US Postal as reported by the Wall street journal. In those emails he specifically names Johan Bruyneel, Lance Armstrong, George Hincapie, Levi Leipheimer and Dave Zabriskie.

Even if we are to fully accept Landis’ claims it still requires us to ask; what motive would Landis have for revealing this information now? This especially after 3+ years of denying using PEDs while being stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title. What about the fraud committed by Landis asking for money to support his defense during this time? Is once a liar, always a liar?

I am not on either side of this argument. At this point I am not sure I care who doped in 2002 and 2003. Cycling is not much different than any other professional sport, doping and drug use exists, it will continue to exist as long as we want to see superhuman efforts from our sport stars. I am just afraid that all these “revelations” are simply tools used to promote some other economic agenda, don’t be surprised to see a new book out shortly by Mr. Landis.
