We will be looking for riders to join us soon.

As we embarked on our second tandem ride of the season, Nicole and I discussed the fact that we so much enjoy riding with other cyclists. This year our Sunday church services are in the middle of the afternoon and that makes all of the Sunday afternoon rides unavailable to us. We also have one vice, since we all rise early during the week, no one wants to get up early on Sunday morning. That fact precludes riding in the early Sunday rides. Maybe when the weather warms up a bunch we will be more inclined to start early.

Since those two facts rule our use of time on Sunday we have been going out and riding about 12:00 – 12:30 pm for a leisurely hour or so. Of course as the weather warms up and we have a few miles under our legs we will both lengthen the ride and start earlier. With that said look for us to post a Sunday mid-morning “Recovery/Amateur” ride. It will be a limited time based ride that will likely start out at 10:00 am and move to 9:00 am during the very warm summer months. The ride will be moderately paced with a few uphill grades (nothing steep) and will progress through the summer with increasing mileage every two or three weeks. All routes will likely start and end at the new Harris Teeter located at the corner of Chestnut Lane and Potter Road.

The pace will be moderate likely in the 15-17 mph average range, it is a recovery ride after all and it’s a Sunday! That is the target average and there will be faster and slower stretches along the way. After all when riding a tandem the uphill sections are always slower going. Of course we are hoping to see another tandem on the road on occasion, so all are welcome.

As things firm up and we can adjust our schedule we will post here and ask our friend JeffV @ weeklyrides.com to post also.
