A Simple Request

As much as we enjoy seeing our work all over the internet and we currently have a very liberal view towards downloading our pictures for reuse, if you republish them on the web please give us credit for the image!

The web is a place to share and we encourage that. Remember that a lot of work goes into not just taking the pictures but then editing them, uploading them and maintaining a website and gallery software to view and make them available for download. Please note that all images on this site, unless otherwise specified is copyright of the image creator. We do not want to go to the extreme of putting a visible watermark on our images, but we reserve the right to do so.

That said, please feel free to view our photo images of local cycling events and rides.

Now, Bud, if you would get a picture of me that was not so goofy, I would love to publish and give you all the credit! :)

Joking aside, thanks for all your WONDERFUL pictures.

    Bud,

…be careful…this goes both ways and you probably have more liability w/o a release…someone may take issue w/ you using their image w/o concent on your site…do you want me to take my FB pic down or do I have your permission? I have no issue giving credit where credit is due. If you’d like me to credit you w/ the pic please tell me specifically how you’d like it credited.

Thanks again for all you do!

    Curt

You are absolutely correct, in certain instances it does work both ways. If you have an objection to your image being posted on our site, ask and it will be removed.

In general, if you are in a public place a Photographer has the right to take your photograph, unless you explicitly refuse. Usually for documentation and editorial purposes model releases are not required. Here is a link that is very helpful when deciding whether or not a release is necessary:

    http://www.danheller.com/model-release.html#4

Dan Heller also has much more rights information on this site, not just information about model releases.

In any case, before posting a picture on Social Networking sites or Photo Repositories make sure you are not allowing those entities all commercial rights to your images, it has happened in the past and I am sure some sites still do this. With regard to Facebook profile pictures, They are usually too small and too low a resolution to care too much about. As I mentioned I welcome others using the images as they see fit, just wanted to inform everyone that we still retain the rights to that image and be careful where else you post the higher resolution images. If you are going to download every image of yourself that we have taken and post them on another site all I am asking is to give us some credit in a comment or description somewhere mentioning the source, or provide a link to the site and/or gallery the image came from.

Curt, I would expect that you continue to use that image as your profile picture and be very disappointed if you did not continue to do so.

Dwight, I would love to post a non-goofy image, but its so hard when you are just a goofy person :)
