Thanks for the comments

I just want to thank everyone for the nice comments. We are by no means professional photographers and each trip out is a learning experience for us. We tried some new things. Nicole used a brand new camera and took, what I think were some of the best pictures on the day. Richard used a new camera and he experimented all day with exposure settings. I was trying out some daylight flash pictures, like the guys you see taking tour pictures, to bring some light to the shadows on the riders faces.

Of course like every photographer we had our share of dud pictures too, and some we took that upon review we wondered what we were trying to capture. In all we took about 1400 images and the 372 that we posted on The Incidental Cyclist and the 20 we posted on Facebook gallery were some of the better one, or ones we could post-process into something usable.

It is also nice to see that our images are making the rounds, several people have already used their images as Facebook profile pictures, others have added them to their galleries of images, still others are downloading them to print or have printed.

If you happen to be looking at the gallery of images and you recognize the person on the bicycle please feel free to leave a comment with their name (first name is sufficient) so that it is easier to identify them. I am slowly changing the names of all the images and providing a bit of a description as people comment on the pictures. I truly believe it helps make the area cycling community inclusive rather than exclusive.

For those that are curious, here is a list of the camera equipment we used:

A special thanks goes to Jeff Viscount for taking the time to organize the ride, mark the route and provide support. All the volunteers receive our special thanks, it allowed us to concentrate on taking pictures rather than other support tasks. Since we have not been able to ride we appreciate the opportunity to add to the cycling community in Mecklenburg and Union Counties in other ways. Thank you all very much.
