Saw the surgeon for a follow-up and gave him my idea of when I wanted to be back on the bicycle. I was surprised by his answer, he agreed. So basically I am just waiting for the drainage hole in the incision to completely heal. Once that is done I am riding again. Just in time too as I am about 15 pounds heavier than I was last year, and no cycling since April has got me on edge.
The pain in the incision area at the back of my neck is now very manageable with just a few ibuprofen each day. I am still on antibiotics for the next two weeks. By the time the antibiotics are done I might actually be in a position to start some easy spins, but I am taking the cautious road and waiting until September 1.
In the mean time, I hope to see some of you at the Charlotte Criterium on August 8th. Please be sure to get uptown early to support the women’s race which starts at 5:15 pm.

I need to get back on the bike, I am going crazy not riding. Just a few more weeks, then I start. Got to be prepared for New Years Eve ride.
