It’s been a week now…

Maybe I shouldn’t write this under the influence of narcotics, but there still is a lot of pain! Between the shoulder blades and in the upper muscle of the left arm. It is all but barely tolerable. The medication still seems to be working and last night was the first night that I actually slept for a complete 5 hour stretch without awakening or tossing and turning. That is an improvement.

I am however getting more and more anxious over the palsy I am suffering in my left arm. I am still barely able to lift that under to shoulder height on it’s own. I do have full mobility if I assist the arm moving it around. I am happy that I seem to have full mobility in my neck with no real change in pain levels tilting from side to side or front to back.

Only time will tell if this was the best decision I have made or if this was a mistake! Right now it’s about 50-50. I am anxious to get back on the bike, maybe a bit too anxious. That may be one of the underlying reasons for the frustration with the palsy.

One more week and I will be back at the surgeon’s office for my post operative check-up. I hope to know a lot more then. In the mean time, ride.

I hope the week goes by quickly so you can hit the streets once again.

Well, I didn’t really sumit the above–seems my name and email is stuck in the reply–but I’ll second the sentiment. I would think any rolling around would intensify the pain. Hang in there. Healing takes time. Take it one day at a time and try to focus elsewhere, like on the TdF.

Thanks Jack and for the post on The Bee Team site.

As of this morning, Saturday, I am feeling much better and was able to sleep through most of the night. I promise to start of slowly as I don’t want to ever have this kind of surgery again.

A few of the recent comment are from spammers spoofing the names of commenters here. I am trying to figure out how to filter them.

Hang in there my buddy. I am getting back on the bike in a week or two, and when you come back I will ride with you as slow as you want for as long as you want. We will be ready for our annual New Year’s Eve Ride. Take car my friend.

PS Email me your contact phone number.

You still progressing, getting more movement and less pain from the arm?

Good to see you on Facebook.
