I can’t believe it is July 1st already. I think much of this denial is the result of not having the opportunity to be on the road riding either my single bike or tandem with Nicole. Well in another eight weeks things will be different. Just a few notes.
If you haven’t seen this yet Versus TV is replaying a stage from each of Lance Armstrong’s seven Tour de France wins. A different one each evening. It has been interesting to watch those old stages and some incredible bike racing. If you have missed any they will be repeating them this Friday night, just don’t forget to set your DVR.
More TDF news, Versus will also be broadcasting each stage live in the mornings then replaying the stage during the day then again with Bobke comments each evening during a highlight show. That is a lot of TDF programming. If you need to know who has been selected by each of the participating teams many websites have the list, a concise listing can be found at Cycling News.
If you are a fan of the Morrow Mountain rides or are thinking of trying one please note that the July ride has been canceled so that people can participate in the Lake Norman Excursion, happening the same day. The event has four rides: Family Fun 10-mile ride; 48-mile ride; 60-mile ride and 100-mile ride. Early registrants receive free socks. Proceeds benefit the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross. You can find course maps at the link above. This event supports the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Bicycles East is having a ride on the 4th. It is the regular Saturday 34 and 50 mile routes, so if you are looking for a group to ride with this Saturday head to downtown Matthews.
If you are looking for other local rides including rides on the 4th of July don’t forget to visit WeeklyRides.com.
Next week I will be posting updates on my surgery on my Facebook page and as time permits a complete summary here. That’s it for now.
