The Manual of Bicycle Repair is a comprehensive collection of books that guide you step by step through major and minor bicycle repairs. If you are mechanically inclined and want to learn how to replace a bottom bracket, for instance, this book can show you how.

The verdict is in!

And the result is a season with limited or no cycling. Especially bad since we finally got our new tandem. Well now, it looks like it will be the end of August or early September before I can be back on the bicycle. The results of the MRI showed more problems than had originally been anticipated.

Star Trek poster

If you loved Start Trek growing up or you just like Sci-Fi in general, run down to your local cinema playing the new Star Trek movie.

My camera is being repaired under warranty by Pentax in Colorado and the part they need is being delivered by carrier pigeon and row boat from Japan. It has already been there 20 days with no expected ETA.

Many have probably wondered why you haven’t seen us on the road lately. Well there is always the excuse of too much to do and not enough time to do it. There is the excuse of having to wait until our custom frame arrived. One of the other reasons that you don’t see us on the road very often these days is, like all of us, we are aging.

This past Saturday, May 9, 2009, Bicycles East put on their highly successful Poker Ride. It is a ride to raise money for MAC Cares. All the monies raised stays local to help disenfranchised youths channel their energies into swimming. A worthy goal.

There were many volunteers to help make this a successful ride, I apologize that I cannot print your names here as I did not get everyone’s. The manned three rest stops along the 51 mile route.

Since I can’t ride at the moment, Nicole and I decided we would volunteer to SAG and take pictures. The Poker Ride is a charity put on by Bicycles East of Matthews, NC. It rolls along relatively flat to slightly rolling terrain through Union County, NC.

As I mentioned, Nicole will be taking pictures. Look for those in a subsequent post.
