A little background noise.

There has been little written on this blog in the past couple of weeks, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. WordPress has been upgraded to version 2.7. Now that won’t mean a lot for the visitors here but it does mean a lot for Nicole, Richard and myself as administrators/authors on this site.

The Upgrade was more involved than just simply FTPing new files to the site. There were 15 plug-ins that needed upgrading or review. Some of them were now redundant, others would not function and still others needed upgrading to work with the new database schema and security model of WordPress 2.7.

At the same time the theme that is used on this site was upgraded. There were specific functionality that was removed and other parts rewritten to better take advantage of the new features of 2.7

Now that that is all behind us, I hope to start off again posting to the blog. There are a lot of exciting things going to happen in 2009, so stay tuned.
