A while ago I posted my two current MTB project bikes. I’m happy to say that one of them is (mostly) complete, and wanted to share the final outcome. I also got a good deal on a road frame that I’ll be building up sometime in the next couple months.
I haven’t touched the PedalForce MTB frame at all. Matter of fact, I’ve actually used some of the parts I had on either the Klein, or elsewhere. It will probably be months before I figure out exactly what I want to do with it. But seeing how winter is making its way here, I’ll be shelving that project for the time being.
With the exception of my search for an XT M739 front V-Brake, and a silver handlebar, the Klein has reached completion. For the time being, I’m using an XTR V-brake I had in a box, as well as some Ritchey handlebars. I decided to go ahead and put my SID on the Klein – it rides super comfortable now over bumps. I also went with Speedplay Frogs… I’ve always used Eggbeaters before, but now that I’ve used the Frogs, I’ll be switching all my MTB pedals. I find the practically tension-free design much more user friendly, and they’re much easier to clip into.
Bud and Nicole both ride PedalForce RS road bikes. A few weeks ago, my uncle ran across a good deal on a PedalForce RS2, and I couldn’t pass it up. If you’re familiar with my uncle’s RS (viewable in previous posts), the first thing you’ll notice is that the RS2 has a different tube design, as well as slightly different geometry. It also has kind of a curvy look to it. As the only parts I actually need to get this bike rideable is a compenent group, I’m hoping to be riding it within a month or so.
I’m currently undecided wether to go SRAM or Shimano. Dura-Ace is a little hard to find right now, but then, 09 Force and Rival have some nice improvements as well, so it will take a bit of research before I can make a decision.
