Finally back into a routine

After returning from vacation and taking a week off from much of anything. Isn’t that the way it is with vacations, when you return you need a vacation! I finally finished and rode the single speed. I have two rides and about 21 miles on her. It is different. The geometry is such that I feel like I am rolled forward on the bike. The drops feel much more aggressive. The bike handles just a little bit quicker.

I still need to put on water bottle cages, it is just a little too hard to ride with a bottle tucked into the back pocket of a jersey. As promised here are a few more pictures:

I also managed to get out and ride a little in Mint Hill. Just a 40 miler out to Stanfield and back. Saturday morning was a near perfect day for a ride. Much better and shorter than the Morrow Mountain ride and takes less gas to get to the starting point. Seems ironic, that we have to drive somewhere just to go for a bike ride.

Well, the tandem is gone, sold it today. Now the anxiousness over the new tandem will only grow. As soon as we have an update I will post it here. Until that time, Nicole and I are still haggling over the color.

Hey Bud, this is William from the Beeteam and currently in Coban, Guatemala – a large town, but not a/the major city. I read over a few of your articles and was shocked to see that you guys were getting rid of your tandem; but then I saw that you all are getting a new one; that’s better. I like your new bike too. 99% of everything here is mountain bikes. It’s very hilly and mountainous. It seems your either going up a good steep hill, going down one, or going around one. There’s about 3 brands here, with maybe one of pretty decent quality. But then again this is a different part of the world with a different economy and reality from there. I haven’t gotten one yet, but hopefully soon as I’m getting far out of biking shape. I’ve just been doing a fair amount of running (inevitably hills). Stay safe and well. Regards to your family. Peace, Will.

Will, glad to hear you are doing well. I hope you are enjoying yourself in Guatemala. I understand the Guatemalan people are very nice. Of course you do realize something … all those hills are just going to make you stronger, especially if they are off-road!

The new tandem should be here sometime in January/February. Maybe sooner if Rue Sports can squeeze us in. I have been trying out a few things with regard to cycling. So I do have a mountain bike. I only use it to take the dog for walks. Too dangerous to be out in the woods riding hard considering the medications I am on. The SS/FG was built to do some cadence work. But now that my nephew is riding with us and he is just starting out, I may ride it more so he can keep up with Nicole and I.

Get back on the bike as quickly as you can, you are certainly more courageous than Nicole or I since neither of us would even consider runing a viable alternative to cycling.
