125 Miles & 7500 ft. of Climb

What happens when you allow a few pedal heads to compare routes and drink beer at the same time?  Morrow Mountain Massacre is what happens…

The ride will leave from Bicycles East in downtown Matthews and travel to the top of Morrow Mountain and then back again. All total there’s 125 miles of some of the best cycling east of Charlotte with over 7500 ft. of vertical climb to challenge even the strongest riders. This ride will include SAG support and rest stops. But please be sure to bring at least two water bottles and some nutrition. Also as the weather in October can be quite unpredictable be sure to check the weather report and dress appropriately. Make sure your bicycle is in good working order and bring an extra tube or two and a method to pump up a flat in case of emergency. Please note that the average speeds are predicted to be from 16 - 20+ mph, and the terrain would be considered hilly.

The ride will be limited to the first 50 riders that register so act fast.

Ride Details:

  • October 11th 7:00 AM
  • Full support and sag
  • Bicycles East Official Bicycle Shop

REGISTER ONLINE Registration open to the first 50 riders only and there will be no day of ride registration. Please register early.

While the rest of the country tries to decide who they will vote for for President, Nicole and I are making much more important decisions. These decisions will affect our riding and training for perhaps years, well after our next president has come and gone. We are making choices about the component selection for our next tandem!

I’ve had a couple of projects I’ve been working on for the past few months that I thought I’d share with you. The first project, is my PedalForce MTB bike. Regular readers will recognize the frame, as my uncle also has the same frame. We both purchased the frames at the same time, I’ve just been a lot more pickier about what components I’m willing to put on the bike.

Rutherford Outdoor Coalition

100K-62 Miles
The 100K ride is a relentless hill climbing experience with over 4,400 feet of climbing on this loop. The ride quickly leaves the town of Rutherfordton and puts the rider on some of the most beautiful and lightly traveled country roads around. Prior training for this ride is a must as this is not an easy ride, but for those looking for a challenge it is the ride for you. The ride has two rest stops at approximately 24.7 miles and 42 miles. Both stops have a restroom or Port-a-John. A map of the course is provided below.
