News Update

Been out of town all week and through the weekend, back this week and have a few things to write about.

Nicole has a new bike, a Cannondale Capo. I will post pictures and hopefully she will write up a little review.
I have a new Pedal Force Hardtail Carbon MTB. A review and pictures are forthcoming.
Floyd Landis will find out today whether or not his appeal was successful. If it is he will be recrowned the 2006 Tour de France champion.
In the next few weeks we will see many announcements from bike manufacturers about new models for 2009. Now might be the time to start shopping for your 2008 closeouts.

July 12, 2008
Start: 10:00 AM
Distance: 50 Miles (+/-)

Directions to starting point in Fancy Gap: Take I-77 north across the VA state line. Continue to Exit 8, at the bottom of the ramp turn right onto Rt 148. Continue to US 52, turn right. Continue to Fancy Gap, about a mile. There is a group of stores and a gas station at the top of the hill on the right. Park in the gravel parking lot to the right of the stores. The ride leaves about 10:00am.

In order to make my road cycling experience a little more enjoyable and to spice things up a bit I tried something a little different, at least for me anyway. I get invited by a few of my friends to go trail riding with them. Now, mind you, I haven’t been on a Mountain Bike in several years nor on a trail in the past 20.

Seemed like there was about 150 riders today. I think many of them were scared away by the threat of rain. Didn’t have any, as a matter of fact, it was a beautiful day for a ride.

Special thanks need to go out to all that helped put on the ride today, Jeff Viscount, the guys from Bicycles East, The Bee Team and Middle Ring Cycles. All you guys did a fine job manning the rest stops and making sure everyone was taken care of.

Today being the first day of summer requires a celebration. If there is no time to celebrate then at least it is time for a new bike. Well I decided I needed to have another bike. I have a few things to work out so no pictures yet. Stay tuned.
