This past weekend…

Nicole and I had a two very good rides. The first was the Saturday Mid-Morning ride out of Bicycles East in Matthews. That ride can be fast or slow depending on the composition of the group. For the most part it was a fair mix of riders and the weather was good. Thirty-Three miles through Matthews, Mint hill and parts of rural Union County.

The pace was lively and we did out part to make sure most of the flatter sections and of course the downhill sections were fast. Overall not our best effort but we are progressing nicely on our training. Thanks to Richard Moody for continuing to support cycling in Matthews and leading this ride. By the way, Mitchell stayed right on our wheel on some of the fast sections, quite impressive for such a young rider!

Sunday was the Bee Team ride out of Waxhaw. We did take the last short cut straight back from S Potter Road to Waxhaw Elementary so our ride was only just a shade over 20 miles. We managed to push some of the hammerheads on Bigham Rd although we were saving ourselves for Crow Rd. Even though we were faster on sections of Crow Rd last week  overall we rode it better than ever. The usual slowdowns associated with tandems on nearly all inclines were just not there. We managed all the uphill sections at 25 mph + and the last slight incline before the turn had us traveling in excess of 27 mph. A few of the flat sections at 30 mph and you can see why it was one of our best efforts.

Union County owes a debt of thanks to the Bee Team for all the work and welcoming attitude they show to all who are new to the sport of cycling.

This upcoming weekend will be the Bicycles East Poker Run, come join us as Bike Charlotte comes to a close. Sunday we will most likely be out in Waxhaw again, joining the Bee Teamers on their Waxhaw ride.
