Today was the first of the Freewheelers Mt Michell training rides. We got to North Greenville University about 20 minutes before the start. Just about the time it was going to start it started raining hard, and there was thunder and lightning. We decided to wait in the truck until it passed. We finally start and we did get a little wet in the beginning. but the rain stopped and the roads dried up and we had a pretty good ride.
This is the first ride since my Cardiologist cleared me for riding. It was obvious to me that I had lost some of my strength. Climbing was harder than I had anticipated or remembered. Still I was just under 3 hours riding even with 3700+ feet of climbing.
Here is the route I took today.
There is still a couple of adjustments I need to make on the SRAM Red bike now that I was really able to put it through its paces. After those I should be perfect.
