Been told by the doctor ‘no work for two more weeks.’ This is killing me. Next check-up is April 3rd.
Been working on Bike #2. Nothing else to do at the moment. Replacing the fork this weekend, and bars next week.
Been investigating natural ways to lower cholesterol without medication, so far large doses of Niacin (Nicotinic Acid) appear to have the most data and the fewest side effects. Nothing like the Statins on the market now. Will start looking at other supplements soon.
Cardiologist will hate that I am going to ask this, but since I will most probably be riding less often, I will need to make the most out of each ride, so I need to know when I can take a VO2 Max test.
SRAM Red continues to impress me, update soon.

Niacin, I believe, is mostly a HDL raising element, as is exercise and a moderate amounts of wine. Statins lower LDL, though for me they seem to raise HDL as well–an anomoly. Cut out the saturated fats, e.g., whole milk, red meats, cheeses, butter; cut out all trans fats (e.g., in a lot of baked goods). Keep up the unsaturated fats. Fish, nuts, fish oil pills, these help. It’s a lifestyle change, but not a difficult one. I found diet alone, strictly followed, was not enough to keep things in line.
