This past Sunday I did my first ride since having stents put in two weeks ago. All I can say is WOW! What a difference a little blood flow will do for you. Fist off I got to the start about 15 minutes late so everyone was gone by the time I got there. I decide to go out anyway and figure if I take a few short cuts I might just be able to catch them about halfway.
I finally catch the group at Old Highway and Nesbit Road. It was a hard haul to catch up. The first thing I noticed was that there was not one even miniscule bit of pain, nothing. No chest pain, leg pain, lung pain, arm pain. I was totally pain free. The second thing I noticed was that I could actually elevate my heart rate higher than I could before. Usually around 80% of mhr would be uncomfortable, Sunday I spent 49.6% of my ride between 80-100% of my mhr. With one sprint actually hitting 101% (I guess I will have to do a VO2max test or similar to see what my maximum heart rate really is).\
Totals for the ride are as follows:

So I am now going to take it easy the rest of the week, some simple outings not one more than 15 miles, just to get my legs back. The I can really start training.
It was great to get back out on the road again, and it was a beautiful day too. So the next thing to do is write up a little posting on my first rides with SRAM Red!

Great to have you on the road with us! Was a shocker to see you pull up to the group,I expected we wouldn’t see you for a couple of weeks, and there you are! Now we can train and try to close the gap on Flash(Bryon)! The only thing left to say is believe in the power of prayer!

Thanks Jeff, I was out despite complaints from my wife and daughter. Then today our family doctor said I was being stupid. If we lived my life in fear of every possible bad outcome in our lives, that is not really living at all. I am very happy with the ride yesterday. It cleared up a few things for me. Let’s see if we can catch Byron!
