Date:

Route:
58 Miles / Marked

Pace:
12+

Start Time:
8:30 AM

Start Site:
Officer Jeff Shelton Park

Directions to Start:
485 to Exit 41 (Hwy 24/27) Go Left towards Locust. Cross Hwy 601 (this is 9.2 miles from 485) Continue straight for another 4-5 miles. Officer Jeff Shelton Park is on the left right after you cross Hwy 200.

Ride Type:
No Drop w/ designated sweep

Ride Description:
Beautiful country scenery, minimal traffic, good road conditions and plenty of hills…mostly rollers with challenges all along the way. The hardest climb of the day will come in the last 10 miles of the ride. Ride stats show 4600 feet of total climb over the 58 mile route.

All Riders Should:

Bring a minimum of 2 water bottles and enough nutrition for a long ride. You will be riding for as many as 5 or 6 hours. There are only 2 rest stops…1 out and 1 back.

Be prepared for the forecasted weather.

Have good tires (look at them closely for excessive wear), at least 1 extra tube and a CO2 cartridge in case of flat. Pack these items even if you don’t know how to fix a flat or have a CO2 inflator…someone will help you if you need it.

Great ride, inspite of cold rain coming on about the time we reached the summit of the Mt. Jeff V. knows how to put on a good ride. Thanks to him. As it was, he went the extra mile and helped sag people in when conditions became a bit dicey to keep riding. Too many frozen hands and brakes that weren’t gripping well. But in better weather, I’d love to try this one again. Great challenge.
