Some quick notes

Nicole is healing well. She will also be sporting a new helmet and glasses as the old helmet cracked in the fall and here glasses suffered a huge scratch on the left lens. She told me yesterday that she would have finished the ride under her own power if she had not tweaked the front wheel and flatted. She is a lot stronger person than she lets on.

As a review, here is what we surmise happened. Three of us were riding in a paceline headed back to the school. I was in front about two feet from the edge of the road. Nicole was second, Randall behind her. She overlapped my rear wheel on my right side and was going to pull in behind me. She eased up on the pedaling and drifted to the left thinking there was enough room. Her front tire hit my rear tire, I swerved but stayed upright, she panicked and jerked the bars right and did an endo and a face plant on the pavement. Randall ran over her rear wheel, but stayed upright. Aside from some physical abrasions and a little bruising she says the most painful thing is that she knew it was her fault and knew better than to overlap, she was embarrassed by the entire incident. Nicole and I have been riding together for two years and we know exactly how each of us ride, so we tend to follow each other closer than many on group rides. It is just the nature of being familiar.

Either later this week or early next week I will have a complete SRAM Red group in my possession. After it arrives I will write up a review for those interested and post actually shipping weights and pictures of all the parts.

REI had 400 of the new Garmin Edge 705 units this week. The bundle included the 705 head unit, Cadence sensor, HRM strap and a 2GB micro SD with City Navigator NT maps installed (SKU #010-00555-40). I had mine delivered to REI Pineville and will post pictures and review as soon as it arrives. I believe MikeS wanting to be the first on the block with the new 705. I guess he will have to be the first with a high resolution helmet cam instead.
