Today we had a rough start on the tandem. Shortly after leaving our house we hear what sounded like a gunshot, the rear tire blew off the rim causing the tube to blowout. When we get to the start the first thing to do is change the tube. While putting the wheel back on the brake cable comes off the travel agent. We tell everyone to go and that we would catch up. While enroute to catch up we drop the chain going up to the big ring. What a way to start a ride.
It took us about 10 miles to catch up to the group. It was a very hard ten miles. JohnD stayed with us and we made it together. After we were with the group Nicole and I worked our way through so we ended up near the middle of the entire group of riders. The last third of the ride was much better, we were warmed up and managed to stay with most of the front groups of riders. about two miles from the end Nicole started to cramp up, the final small climb was very slow but we spun up the entire way. Looking forward to doing it again.
It was also nice to see another tandem on the ride too!
